WSQ Enhanced Basic Security Course

WSQ Enhanced Basic Security Course (Requisite for Security Officer Licence Application)

The Enhanced Basic Security Course consists of two modules:

WSQ SE-SO-103-0 Provide Guard and Patrol Services
WSQ SE-SO-102-1 Handle Security Incidents and Services.



  • Perform various guard and patrol duties that include clocking and visitor and vehicle management, etc.Watch out for suspicious security threats.
  • Perform basic standard situational procedure and protocols that security personnel would need to know once they enter the security industry.
  • Apply for the License to become a Security Officer to be able to join the security industry.

Course Syllabus

WSQ SE-SO-103-0 Provide Guard and Patrol Services
  • Preparing work activities
  • Guarding static position
  • Handling telephone calls and lost-and-found properties
  • Patrolling premises
  • Making reports and hand over duties
WSQ SE-SO-102-1 Handle Security Incidents and Services
  • Containing incidents of damage to facilities and equipment
  • Handling fire-related incidents
  • Handling crime-related incidents
  • Handling medical or first-aid related incidents
  • Handling bomb or IED (Improvised Explosive Device) threat incidents
  • Searching, apprehending and arresting suspect
  • Giving evidence in court


  • Assessment will be conducted by an independent assessor (examiner) from *POLWEL (*Police Welfare Co-operative)
  • Assessment format : Role-Play and Oral Questions
  • Assessment duration for WSQ Provide Guard and Patrol Services (SE-SO 103-0) is 2 hours.
  • Assessment duration for WSQ Handle Security Incidents and Services (SE SO-102-1) is 2 hours and 5 minutes. Combined total: 4 hours and 5 minutes.
  • Trainees can opt to be assessed for both modules concurrently or each module separately, upon completion of each module.

Training Duration

  • A minimum of 40.5 hours of training for both modules combined, to be carried out over a minimum of 5 working days*
  • Standard Course Timing: 0830hrs to 1730hrs (Monday to Friday)

Entry Requirements

  • To have strong underpinning knowledge as a foundation in Security activities, it is strongly recommended the Trainee completes WSQ Enhanced Basic Security Course modules before under taking training in this Advance Module
  • Trainee must have a strong command of English as the course and assessment requires the trainee to be able to communicate concepts and give instructions effectively to its supervisees.
